Mitral stenosis is a heart valve disorder that narrows or obstructs the mitral valve opening. Narrowing of the mitral valve prevents the valve from opening properly and obstructs the blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle. This can reduce the amount of blood that flows forward to the body.

This pathologic mode is characterized by the following list of hemodynamic changes:

• decrease of venous pulmonary base conductivity Y_VRHL:


• right ventricular hypertrophy is characterized by reduction of end-diastolic ventricular volume due to increase of right ventricular wall elasticity and reduction of its stressless volume.

Full-blown right ventricular and left atrial hypertrophy (obstruction of the blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle).
