The parameter is an important dimensional characteristic describing blood circulation system. Mathematically total blood volume is included in the equation of volumetric balance:

The parameter is used for modelling of different modes and pathologies, whic are accompanied by a volume change of circulating blood. For example, the blood loss as a result of bleeding is modelled by the reduction of the parameter value. The increase of total blood volume is accompanied by a stagnant cardiac incompetence.
