The parameter is an auxiliary characteristic describing pump function of the ventricle. It is included in mathematical description of Frank-Starling's heart law for ventricles as the approximation constant u_i:

The parameter has the equal value u₀ for both ventricles (u_HL=u_HR=u₀). Normal value depends on the real heart dimensions, the parameter is not used for modelling of pathologic modes.
